The BBA Scholars Program pre-selects a small number of highly qualified applicants for admission to the Cox School of Business as freshmen. Scholars are selected by merit, based on a review of the SMU Application for Admission, with special emphasis on SAT/ACT scores, grade point average, and curriculum. Past scholars have an average SAT score greater than 1400 coupled with very challenging curricula and high grade point averages.
To be considered for the BBA Scholars program, applicants simply list business as their first academic interest on the SMU Application for Admission. There is no additional application form required for consideration. This program is only available to first-year applicants entering SMU in a fall semester. The selection process for the Scholars Program follows the traditional admission cycle, with notification of selection by April of the senior year of high school.
BBA Scholars are also automatically considered for Business School Scholarships. Scholarship awards are made to new scholars in the spring, prior to their SMU enrollment. In past years, roughly half of new scholars received a Business School Scholarship in addition to their SMU scholarship.
