Kitt Investing and Trading Center
The new Kitt Investing and Trading Center is a state-of-the-art research and instructional facility. The Center is designed to integrate finance curriculum, enhance innovative faculty research and teach students practical finance and investment applications. The 32-seat facility is the home of the Ann Rife Cox Undergraduate and Nancy Chambers Underwood Graduate student managed investment portfolios.
The EnCap Investments & LCM Group Alternative Asset Management Center
The EnCap Investment & LCM Group Alternative Asset Management Center at the Cox School of Business places SMU at the forefront of training in the most significant growth area in the investment field today. There are over 200 alternative investment firms in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The Alternative Asset Management Program will make Cox the top provider of trained students necessary for these local firms as well as other growing firms throughout the United States and the world.
Business Information Center (BIC)
The Business Information Center (BIC) is located in the Maguire Building, one of the trilogy of buildings comprising the Cox School of Business. The mission of the BIC is to provide the SMU community with authoritative business information, support the integration of information and technology into the curriculum, and act as a center for research and development for the state-of-the-art information technology applications in the business education field. As such, the BIC offers a comprehensive set of resources including Bloomberg, Global Insight, Hoover’s Online, LexisNexis Academic and Statistical, Mergent Online, Morningstar Direct, S&P’s NetAdvantage, Thomson ONE, Value Line Research Center Online, VentureXpert, WRDS, and a host of additional databases, research guides, print resources, etc.
Bloomberg Certification
Bloomberg systems are available in the Kitt Investing and Trading Center and BIC to give our students a significant resource advantage and to provide them with the opportunity to become “Bloomberg Certified” by offering a Bloomberg certification program prior to graduation.
CFA
The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification program is globally recognized in the financial asset management field. If you are considering a career in asset management, you will want to enroll in a CFA review course during the spring semester. The Cox School of Business’ connection with the Dallas/Fort Worth CFA Society offers scholarships to Cox MSF students toward the Level I examination.
