• Why did you choose to attend the Cox School?

The program was an excellent match for my professional and personal situation. Great rankings, distinguish faculty, very thorough step-by-step program, experienced and diverse classmates, great facilities and in accordance to my preferred school times.

• How has the Cox Executive MBA Program helped you to achieve your career goals?

While my Executive MBA started as a way to fulfill a personal dream, change was inevitable. The program provided new clear opportunities at work and is taking me to a new leadership position. Senior Management assigned a market research for a new distribution line in the Houston Metro area estimated at $32 million annual revenue. The project was accepted and I am leading the new implementation.

• What advice would you give to candidates considering the Cox Executive MBA Program?

The Cox Executive MBA program will challenge your thinking and your current status quo. From day one you will have opportunities to learn inside and outside the classroom. The entire journey is a serious undertaking; however, the staff, the faculty and your teammates will be there with you all along and give you all the tools to succeed. It will look like everything is thrown at you at once and you will learn to prioritize and learn how to balance. You will succeed. You will realize that there are people that are better than you are and you cannot do it all alone. Take advantage of the different career backgrounds. It is a learning environment, as opposed to real business; you can experiment and take higher risks. Enjoy the journey, enjoy the learning and please don't forget your partner, wife or significant other.

• Please add anything else that is unique to your Cox Executive MBA experience.

I joined Cox without realizing the full extent of SMU's reputation and such a high standards of the Cox Executive MBA program. I was not expecting the amount of personal growth, the sense of achievement and the amount of confidence I gained. You are surrounded by outstanding classmates and great faculty. You will get to see new sides of people and understand that business school is a tool in your broader personal and professional development.
