• Why did you choose to attend the Cox School?
I chose the Cox School because Business Week ranked it among the top 20 Executive MBA Programs and it is one of the most highly respected and longest standing Executive MBA programs in the nation. In addition, it was geographically located where my commute from Odessa, Texas would be logistically feasible in terms of air travel and lodging.
• How has the Cox Executive MBA Program helped you to achieve your career goals?
When I started the program my goal was to attain a Master of Business Administration degree so that I could pursue a career in Hospital Administration. Since I started the program, I have been managing a busy medical practice and I am now considering opening up my own medical billing company. The program has provided me an advanced business background, which I can utilize in either a healthcare administration or an entrepreneurship setting.
• What advice would you give to candidates considering the Cox Executive MBA Program?
The most important advice I can give is that you must be willing to work together in a group setting to be successful in this program. In addition, it is as equally important that you get to know other students in the program early on rather than later. There is so much to learn from each other on both a professional and personal level, so be willing to step out of your comfort zone and be open to new ideas.
• Please add anything else that is unique to your Cox Executive MBA experience.
The structure of the program allowed me the ability to take the concepts I had learned from each class weekend and apply it in my daily profession. It was as if I had my own learning lab in which I could test the theories and concepts. The program has enriched me in many ways and I know it is the best investment I ever made in my future.
