Dean Al Niemi

Panel says 2012 to remain in holding pattern of little growth

About this time every year, Dean Al Niemi hosts a media breakfast, gathering experts from academia and industry.

"Keys to recovery are jobs, the housing market and consumer spending," Niemi said before listing the reasons none of those will make a robust comeback soon.

Niemi said California's losses will continue to be Texas' gains. He points to a recent survey by Bain & Co. showing that 40 percent of the businesses headquartered in California want out. Of those, 65 percent said they're relocating to Texas. As a result, added Chuck Dannis, D-FW has become the "fifth-largest bastion for institutional investment in the U.S."

Corporate Relay Challenge Results in Donations to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children

SMU Cox School of Business and the Dallas White Rock Marathon board of directors announced the results Thursday of the 2011 SMU Cox Corporate Relay Challenge presented by Behringer Harvard.

At a reception in the James M. Collins Executive Education Center at SMU's Cox School of Business, they also presented a $30,000 donation to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
