Cox welcomes our military candidates
Veteran enrollment is at an all-time high at SMU Cox! As a proud participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program, the Cox School is host to over three dozen of the nation’s finest men and women. Noted as one of the most military-friendly colleges by mba.com, we welcome veterans to apply to SMU Cox as they seek their MBA and prepare for the next chapter in their lives:
• We waive the application fee for all active duty and military veterans
• We are committed to making financial aid available to qualified military personnel.
• We will provide a one-year deferment if admitted military students' plans are delayed by service.
SMU Cox helps our students after graduation as well through organizations such as Veterans In Business, a student association committed to assisting veterans as they transition from the military into a successful career in the private sector.
| STUDENT PROFILE: Captain Troy Vaughn, U.S. Army, Cox MBA Alumnus A 2004 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Vaughn served in the military for more than five years. “In the military, you get a sense of service, of doing something bigger than yourself,” he says. “I’m hoping to achieve that in business.” An active student at SMU Cox, Vaughn was a member of the M.B.A. Energy Club and was president and a founding member of Veterans in Business. “We’ve grown from five members to nearly 30,” he says. “We’ve built strong connections among ourselves, and connected our members with networking and job opportunities. These students demonstrate discipline and leadership, even in the most challenging situations.” Holding an internship and part-time position with an energy exploration company while completing his studies, Vaughn accepted a project manager position with Sharyland Utilities after graduating in May 2011. |
