Global resources expand
The Business Library has always had a robust collection of research resources focused on international business interests. These resources are conveniently organized by categories in the International Business Research Guide, located by clicking on Research Guides from the left-side menu on the business library website.Business Insights – Global is now available from the International Business Research Guide, as well as from the Business Databases page. Business Insights – Global is a new database that is still under development and has information added on an ongoing basis. Therefore, it is not yet as robust as it will be, but may offer information that you cannot find in other sources. It contains some general country statistics, with an emphasis on industry and company overviews. Clicking the tabs on the main page will bring up a chart and table creation tool that can be used to compare various statistics on countries, companies, and industries. Using the search box will bring up a list of results that can be refined using choices on the left side menu.

As the semester progresses, you may find yourself needing information for a class project and not knowing where to look. Maybe you have tried some basic searching, but you aren't getting what you need. Perhaps you have the handout from a presentation by a librarian, but you are uncertain which database to use for what. When you are in one of these situations: DON'T despair, DON'T keep doing endless Google searches, and above all, DON'T copy someone else's answers…Instead, Ask a Business Librarian!
The business library offers several ways for you to contact us about your research needs.
1. You can stop in to see us in person. There is a librarian on duty during all hours that the business library is open. So, even at 10:30 at night or on Saturday afternoon, you will get professional assistance.
2. You can phone us during the hours the business library is open and get help wherever you are doing your research. Call 214-768-4496 to reach the librarian on duty.
3. Also, you can e-mail your reference inquiry to us. Click the Ask a BIC Librarian link at the bottom of the business library home page and fill out the form. You should expect an answer within 24-hours. Usually it will be a complete response; sometimes we may need to ask you for further clarification.

Need to print something quickly?
Sometimes you want to settle into a selected space in the library and stay for a while. Other times you just need to print your assignment before you hurry off to class. Or you pass someone in the hall who asks if you saw the e-mail they sent.When you just need to use a computer for less than 5 minutes, the library has the perfect solution for you. There are a total of four quick print computers (5-minute max stand-up stations) available, with TWO now located in the front part of the library and near a pay-for print station. So, you can print your assignment or read an e-mail quickly and easily within a few feet of the front door. When selecting a printer choose "BIC Maguire Trading Center B&W," and it will print at the front desk.
Two more quick print computers are located in the back part of the library around the corner from the printer counter. So, if you are working at one of the round tables or in a study room, you don't need to check out a computer in order to print. When selecting a printer choose "BIC Maguire B&W Duplex Printer," and it will print at one of the printers on the counter..
You can print wirelessly from your laptop to all of these printers as well. Directions are found on the business library homepage under HELP… wireless printing. Drivers are available for most Windows and Mac operating systems, but not yet for Lion.
