Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children Consulting Program
The TSRHC program is an excellent opportunity to give back to the community while learning about non-profit operations. Students attend a one-day introductory tour of the hospital, after which they divide into teams and are assigned to work on real-life challenges faced by the hospital staff. After a three-week group consulting work period, participants return to the hospital to present suggested solutions to TSRHC executives and board members.
The projects covered in Spring of 2011 were:
- Patient Check-In Policy in Ambulatory Care
- Physical Therapy Equipment Inventory Management
- Staff Development - Customer Service Program
- Staff Commuter and Mobility
- Evolving Employee Demographics - Evolving Employee Benefits
- Wellness Program Analysis
- Legacy Scholarship Program Alumni Association
- Overhead Allocation
- Employee Performance Evaluation Analysis
- Paid-Time-Off Analysis
- Expansion of the Help a Child Benefit

| "Through the BLC’s Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children Consulting Program, I have been able to draw on my experience as a business analyst, combined with new knowledge, and give back to the community in a way that potentially has a more far reaching impact than just obtaining an MBA degree. The TSRHC experience has been a highlight of my SMU educational experience!" |
