Student Organizations and Activities

The Cox BBA Program offers a number of clubs and organizations through which you can refine your social skills and leadership techniques. Some are major- or interest-specific, some are honorary organizations, and others are more general. Cox is sure to have an organization to meet your needs, but if not, you are strongly encouraged to take an active role and start one yourself!

SMU Cox has a chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the national business honorary society, as well as chapters of Alpha Kappa Psi and Delta Sigma Pi, the two national business fraterneties.

Accounting Association
The Accounting Association is a student organization open to all Accounting majors.

Association of Latino Professional in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA)
ALPFA is a national professional business organization which provides a distinct, nurturing cultural environment where members from local and national chapters share common experiences and mentor students for success at SMU and beyond.

Alpha Iota Delta
Alpha Iota Delta is an honorary business association for ITOM majors. It is open to non-ITOM majors provided they meet the selection criteria. Alpha Iota Delta cosponsors meetings and guest speakers with the Information Systems Organization.

Alpha Kappa Psi
Alpha Kappa Psi is the oldest national business fraternity. AKPsi seeks to bring business students together through social events, speakers, community service projects and special programs.

BBA Energy Association
The BBA Energy Association brings together students from a variety of business majors who share an interest in energy industries (oil, gas and non-traditional energy). Working with the Maguire Energy Institute, the BBA Energy Association offers field trips, guest speakers, and networking opportunities.

Beta Alpha Psi
Beta Alpha Psi is an honorary organization for Accounting majors. Associate membership is also open to Finance and ITOM majors provided they meet the selection criteria.

Beta Gamma Sigma
Beta Gamma Sigma is the national honorary society for business majors. Students are selected and invited to join Beta Gamma Sigma in the spring of their junior or senior year based on grade point average.

Business Associates Program
The Business Associates Program is a corporate mentoring program for Cox undergraduates. BAP is open to all junior and seniorbusiness majors in good academic standing.

Consulting Club
The Consulting Club is open to all business majors who are interested in careers in management consulting. The club brings speakers to campus from major consulting firms such as Bain & Co.

Cox Ambassadors
The Cox Ambassadors are a group of undergraduate business majors who assist with recruiting activities for the business school, provide Cox facility tours, and participate in programs like on-line chats.

Cox Entrepreneurship Organization (CEO)
The CEO focuses on forming a networked community for interested undergraduate students to support and promote entrepreneurial ventures and investment opportunities. Members meet in a relaxed environment to discuss current financial and business related opportunities.

Delta Sigma Pi
Delta Sigma Pi is a professional business fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities, encourage scholarship, social connections, and the association of students for their mutual advancement.

Finance/Investments Club
The Finance/Investments Club is open to all business majors. This club brings guest speakers, plans programs, and actively manages a small investment fund.

Information Systems Organization
The Information Systems Organization is for students who are interested in learning more about information technology, computers, and careers related to this field. ISO is open to any business major.

Marketing Association
The Marketing Association broadens students' knowledge of marketing and careers available in this field. The Marketing Association is open to Marketing majors and other undergraduate students interested in this field.

National Association of Black Accountants (NABA)
NABA is a national professional business organization geared toward enhancing professional development, building leadership skills, creating a support system for careers in corporate America, providing opportunities to build interpersonal skills, and enabling students to network with current professionals.

Pi Sigma Epsilon
Pi Sigma Epsilon is a nation organization that promotes the study of marketing, selling, and sales management. Pi Sigma Epsilon develops the marketing and sales skills of its members through lifelong learning opportunities.

Retailing / E-Tailing Club
The Retailing/E-tailing Club connects students with the rapidly changing world of retail and e-tail. Under the direction of the JC Penney Institute for Retail Excellence, the Retailing/E-tailing Club has sponsored field visits to local corporate headquarters, guest speakers and special events like the "Dress for Success" fashion show and the Business Etiquette dinner. Membership is open to all business majors.

SMU / Cox Real Estate Club
Working closely with the SMU Real Estate Society, this club welcomes all undergraduate students interested in careers in Real Estate to attend its semesterly meetings. These meetings bring top names in real estate to campus for presentations and networking opportunities.
