Mentoring Goals and Expectations

BAP is:
•A value-added program
•Available to junior and senior-level Cox BBA students.
BAP will:
•Match you with a mentor from the business community
•Provide you the means to start a business network
•Help you establish a career strategy
BAP mentors can:
•Provide inside information on careers in your field of interest
•Help you to see a broader picture of career possibilities
•Introduce you to others in the field
•Help with your resume
•Help you transition from university life to the corporate world
Who are the mentors?
•Dallas-area business professionals
•Many are Cox alums (BBA or MBA)
•Many work for or are associated with Cox Associate Board members
•All have volunteered their time to work with you
What is required of the student?
•Taking the initiative in the mentor relationship
•Being polite and respectful
•Behaving in a professional manner
•Keeping the goals of the program foremost in your mind
You earn a certificate of completion if:
•You have at least six meaningful face-to-face meetings and you must complete a final online evaluation form.
What does Cox provide?
•Hands-on matching of a mentor to your needs
•At least two on-campus events per year for students and mentors to meet (fall and spring)
•Training for you and for the mentors
•Monitoring and management of the program
•Record-keeping and awarding of certificates
