| What is Bloomberg? |
| Bloomberg is an online financial service that provides quotes and technical analysis of U.S. and international securities. Bloomberg provides company, industry, and market news. Bloomberg contains historical economic data from sources such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF). |
| How to Connect to Bloomberg ? |
| To access Bloombergfrom the Edwin L. Cox School of Businessuse the dedicated terminal that is located near the front of the reading room. |
| Why should you use Bloomberg? |
| The Bloomberg database is a general data servicethat tracks all the major securities markets(currencies, equities). This is a good source forinternational economic data. |

| How do you access Bloomberg ? |
| The Bloomberg database is available in the BIC onlyto current SMU students, faculty, and staff. Check out the placard for the Bloomberg terminal at the BIC front desk using your SMU ID. A BIC Staff member will then log you into the Bloomberg database at the dedicated terminal. |
| Bloomberg has two flat-panel monitors, which allow you to view two displays simultaneously. The active screenshows a blue flashing cursor. To switch between the panels, use the mouse to click on the inactive panel and activate it. Bloomberg has a colored keypad. The yellow keys designate the markets coveredby the service. The green keys are action keys that execute your commands. |

At any point the information on the screen may be printed by pressing the Print Screen key.
To print consecutive pages in Newsand Hoovers Handbook: Type 9 and press GO.
Bloomberg does not allow downloading of information with our subscription, however you may copy and pastean individual column of information from the Bloomberg screen into MS Excel. |
| Does Bloomberg offer online assistance? |
| Bloomberg has a keywordsearch help function that is activated by the green Help keythat is located where F1 normally is found. For example, to find out if Bloomberg tracks mergers and acquisitions, type merger [help]. Striking the [help] key on any page brings you to the help screen for that page. Bloomberg also offers online tutorialsfor their database, typelearn [go]. For additional assistance press [help] twice to send an emailto Bloomberg (remember to include your email address in the message). |
