Bloomberg Basics: The Bloomberg terminal provides access to vast amounts of data dealing with all financial markets. This workshop will cover basic searching strategies used in the Bloomberg database and exporting data to Excel. Finance students are encouraged to become familiar with using the Bloomberg terminal. Each session of this workshop will be limited to 5 participants and will be conducted in the Business Information Center.

Company Financial Research: This workshop will assist you in locating company financial information such as annual reports, income statements, and long-term debt. You will learn effective search strategies for finding analysis, deals, and comparisons to peer companies using Mergent Online and Thomson One Banker (T1B). Installing and using the Excel add-in toolbar for T1B will be covered. Accounting and Finance students will benefit from this workshop.
Finding Business Articles: This workshop will assist students in locating a variety of articles on business topics. You will learn effective search strategies for article searching in databases including ABI/Inform and Business Sources Complete. In addition, students will learn how to access specific journals, evaluate articles, and where to locate help with citations. All students will benefit from the search strategies presented in this workshop.
General Company Research: This workshop will assist students in locating company information beyond what is provided on the company's Web site. You will learn effective search strategies for Hoover's Online (including the Build a List feature), Factiva, and Business Source Complete. All students will benefit from the general information presented in this workshop.
Industry and Market Research: This workshop will assist students in finding companies in a particular industry and locating industry trends, forecasts, and market share. Business & Company Resource Center, Mintel, and Standard & Poor's NetAdvantage are the featured databases. Marketing and strategy students will find the information in this workshop particularly useful.
International Business Research: This workshop will assist students in locating country profiles (including risk ratings), market share data, and company information using Global Insight, Factiva, the GLOBUS & NTDB portion of STAT-USA, and Global Market Information Database (GMID). Students participating in global programs and others interested in doing business internationally will benefit from this workshop.
Potential Career and Employer Research: This workshop will assist you in finding appropriate careers, teach you to research industries and companies, and show you how to locate current news on applicable business issues. Freely available Web sites, Business & Company Resource Center, Hoover's Build a List, and ABI/INFORM Complete are demonstrated. Anyone in the job search process will find this workshop useful.
