ACM Digital Library The Association for Computing Machinery provides full text articles from magazines, journals and proceedings - everything ACM has published - on topics such as ERP and knowledge management that are directly relevant to information management students.
Applied Information Systems Research (AISR) This is a NASA project and it highlights some of the issues involved in organizing the information of a very large organization. Since NASA also conducts original research, research opportunities are highlighted on this site.
Best of the Web Best was originally started as a student project and contains a wide variety of links, including useful business links, that can be accessed via a menu.
Computer Science Bibliographies An extensive bibliography that is international in scope and is maintained by two German researchers.
Computer Source This EBSCO database provides access to articles about information management and many of the topics that deal with management information systems and telecommunications.
Donald E. Knuth Known for his work on algorithms, this personal site is an interesting way for novices to learn something about a pioneer in the field.
InterNIC Directory and Database Services This home base for internet domain name registrars is an important starting point for anyone interested in registering a new site or reporting a violation.
IS World The Association for Information Systems brings together resources useful for research, teaching, and practice in the areas of information processing and management.
Knowledge Management -- Virtual Library BRINT Institute provides a wide-ranging classic web site about knowledge management.
Open Source Initiative Open source software that is freely available and may be locally amended is shared by like-minded people internationally. Operators of unix-variant platforms may find it particularly useful to stay in touch with this movement.
ZDNet contains a wealth of product reviews and industry dialogue.
Note about terminology: Since the early 1960's the term "enterprise wide information system" has denoted integrated systems that supply information about all aspects of a business. More recently the term "enterprise resource planning (ERP)" has become fashionable to denote pretty much the same thing.

Association for Information Systems The AIS serves academics who specialize in management information systems. The organization has both corporate and university sponsors. Student memberships are available.
Benton Foundation This nonprofit organization specializes in social issues related to digital communication.
CIO Executive Research Center Chief Information Officer Magazine provides a variety of articles from the publication that will provide perspective to current issues and technologies.
Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility CPSR addresses current issues such as Internet governance, election technology, privacy, intellectual property and ethics.
Electronic Frontier Foundation EFF is important in the arena of defending digital rights. Their involvement in court cases and their watchdog activities result in a website containing a wealth of information about current issues in technology.
Information Systems Audit and Control Association ISACA is a world wide professional organization that brings together IT audit and security specialists. The download section may provide materials useful to students.
The Internet Society ISOC is an international association of those people involved in building and operating internet infrastructure. The Internet Engineering Task Force within ISOC and other parts of the organization make available their standards and best practices on the website.
