COMPANY FINANCIAL RESEARCH GUIDE

Basic Financials
Hoover's Search by company name or ticker. Click on the Financials tab in the blue navigation on the left side of the page. Find some current and historical information. The Comparison Data and Competitive Landscape sections are very useful for determing company performance against the industry and market and top competitors.
NASDAQ Company Financials View company financials for up to 10 different tickers. Use the drop down boxes at the top of the page to navigate between content sections as well as to change companies.
New York Times Marketwatch Search for information on over 50,000 publically traded companies.
Web Based Databases
Mergent Use Mergent to When database loads click the green and gray "Enter Mergent Online" button on left side of screen. Search by company name or ticker. The Mergent database organizes information under a series of tabs: Company Details, Company Financials, Create Reports, EDGAR, News, Annual Reports and Tear Sheets. Navigate to the Company Financials tab, and then click through the links that appear in the tool bar under the tab.(SMU Community Only) (Caution: may be slow to load)
Thomson In the upper right hand corner search by either company name or ticker to see an overview including filings, price/earnings data, reports, and spreadsheet financials. Navigate through the tabs at the top to search EDGAR or to see today's filings, and to use Compact D - SEC and Worldscope data.
WRDS Wharton Research Data Services- Use COMPUSTAT North America, CRSP, I/B/E/S, and NYSE TAQ in addition to the freely available databases. (dedicated terminal) (BIC IP Address Only)

Stand Alone Resources
Bloomberg- Use the equity function to locate current and historical information in individual companies. Compare company performance against another company, an industry, or an exchange.
