ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR
Research and field experience in organizational behavior comes from a variety of disciplines including management, sociology, and psychology and to a lesser degree anthropology, political science, economics and law. Since organizations encompass many different types of workgroups from physical laborers to executives, there are numerous modes and norms of behavior that mingle and interact. Studies in this area are related to ethics and leadership studies which are addressed in seperate research guides.

AMA Management Handbook [via NetLibrary] This well-respected volume from the American Management Association conveys articles by business experts on a wide range of topics and would be a useful starting point for term papers in introductory courses. The Blackwell encyclopedic dictionary of organizational behavior [via NetLibrary] This is an authoritative source that defines current concepts in organizational behavior.
Business Source Complete As a principle business database, this source provides an abundance of both practical and theoretical articles. One interesting approach is to search "organizational behavior" as an 'author-supplied keyword'. (SMU Community Only)
Health Reference Center While focused to some extent at the impact of behavior on health, this database also contains a wealth of information about the psychological aspects of organizational behavior and includes material from publications such as "Journal of Organizational Behavior Management" and "Academy of Management Review". The dark side of organizational behavior[via NetLibrary] The authors take a peek at the less constructive behaviors that may be exhibited in organizations. This may provide a useful counterpoint to more conventional treatments.
The concise Corsini encyclopedia of psychology and behavioral science 2004 [via NetLibrary] The Corsini provides a suitable reference for parsing new concepts and terminology that may be encountered in textbooks and allied readings.
Organizational Studies The Wikipedia article provides a starting point for exploring the wiki network of related articles. Use good judgement in selecting what is useful.
PsycARTICLES A selective source of full-text, peer-reviewed scholarly and scientific articles in psychology. Includes over 100,000 articles in 59 APA journals from 1894-present.
PSYCinfo This is the definitive database for psychology and related disciplines with approximately 2.3 million citations. It includes articles that address workplace and workgroup issues, the effectiveness of various management and leadership strategies and marketing topics. Some 97 percent of the covered material is peer-reviewed. Journal coverage, which spans 1887 to present, includes international material from over 2,100 periodicals. ORGANIZATIONS & ASSOCIATIONS
Academy of Management Online The Academy is a scholarly association but open to all. This would be the correct location to find placement service for careers in academe.
American Psychological Society APS is one of the scholarly psychology associations. Membership is open to students.
American Psychological Association The APA is the premier psychology association. Students may join at prorated rates.
American Society for Training & Development ASTD provides resources and certification for training and development professionals.
Society for Human Resource Management SHRM is a good source for keeping up to date on issues. Student memberships are available.

JOURNALS
Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis Back issues from 1968 to 2005 are available throught he website. The journal is indexed in PubMed where an adequate search requires using the advanced search feature and setting limits to specify date range. Primarily of use to advanced student research.
