BUSINESS INFORMATION CENTER

Using the Research Guides

The research guides, designed and maintained by BIC librarians, focus on the subjects our users access most frequently.  The guides are topically directed, annotated lists of print and electronic resources culled from the over 150 electronic resources available to the SMU community, the print collections of the Business Information Center and the SMU Libraries, and freely available sites via the internet.

Use the navigation to the left to select the desired guide. Students may use the guides as a way to get started on a research project or assignment before coming to visit with BIC librarians or as a reminder of what was covered during a reference session or class with a librarian.   While robust, the guides are not meant to substitute for a visit with one of the BIC librarians and are best used in conjunction with the searching assistance given by the librarians.

Librarians are available to assist with course assignments and research projects in a variety of ways.  A librarian is always available for walk-in and telephone reference requests during the Center’s operating hours.  Additionally, students, staff, and faculty of SMU may use the Ask A Librarian service to submit a question via email or to schedule an individual reference appointment with a librarian.

Questions and comments about the BIC resources may be directed to our comments form, or by calling 214-768-4107 and asking to speak with a staff member.
