MASTER OF SCIENCE IN MANAGEMENT (MSM)

MSM Program FAQs

What types of individuals would benefit from the Master of Science in Management Program?

The program is designed for high-potential employees who require basic business training to achieve their professional goals but for whom the traditional MBA may not be the best fit. Maybe you are pursuing a focused career in an industry like telecommunications, aerospace and defense, or IT services, and you need to develop basic budgeting, management, marketing, financial, and strategic planning skills to assume a leadership position within your chosen discipline. Or perhaps you’re working in another field such as healthcare or biomedical sciences, and you need to “speak” the language of business to advance your career. The Cox MSM is a tailor-made solution.

Does the program require any prerequisites?

No, but a fundamental knowledge of accounting and statistics would be beneficial. For those with a non-business background, it would useful to enroll in these courses at a local junior college prior to enrolling in the program.

Are students required to enroll in the courses as outlined in the brochure?

To take full advantage of the cohort nature of the program, students are encouraged to enroll in classes as outlined in the brochure. The program is designed for individuals who are able to devote their schedules to enrolling in twelve hours in the fall and spring semesters and eight hours in the summer. If you are unable to commit to this schedule, consider our Professional MBA Program.

When does the program begin?

The program begins once a year in August. Applications are reviewed from January 1st until the class is filled.

Is the GMAT or GRE required?

The Admissions Committee will determine whether or not applicants are required to submit valid GMAT or GRE scores. Individuals who come from non-business or non-technical backgrounds are frequently required to provide a GMAT or GRE score.

Are transfer credits accepted?

Due to the structure of the program, unfortunately, we are unable to accept transfer credits.
