Business Leadership Center(BLC)

Employers say that when all other qualities and skills are equal, strong leadership and communications skills are what set a candidate apart from the competition. The Cox PMBA Program provides you with specialized training in these areas through the Business Leadership Center (BLC). The BLC offers more than 60 seminars taught by business practitioners from Fortune 500 companies, medium-size businesses, and entrepreneurial ventures. In addition to presenting traditional seminars on topics such as effective leadership, conflict resolution, and business communications, the BLC offers one-on-one training in areas including advanced presentation techniques and advanced business writing. These unique seminars allow you to work with instructors to achieve your specific career goals. The BLC also offers PMBA students a trip to the Disney Institute in Orlando, Florida. This four-day, custom-designed program gives students the opportunity to study Disney's strategies and tactics for building customer loyalty and increasing customer retention through outstanding service. In fact, SMU Cox is the only business school to partner with the Disney Institute.

Cox MBA Student Organizations

The Cox MBA Program offers a number of clubs and organizations through which you can refine your leadership skills. As an elected official on the Student Advisory Board, for example, you can help shape the school’s future programs by serving as the liaison between the student body and the faculty and administration. Exposure to Distinguished Leaders

SMU and Cox expose students to world renowned business and political leaders, journalists, entertainers, and novelists each year.

Sponsored by the Bank of Texas, the Business Leader Spotlight (BLS) series features business leaders on the SMU Cox campus in a casual, after-business setting where networking and contact with the speaker are encouraged.

Sponsored by Ernst & Young, the Management Briefing Series (MBS) events typically occur in downtown Dallas during lunch. You can enjoy a first-class meal while listening to a world-class business leader sharing experiences about career, life and current business topics.

Bringing the world's most interesting and provocative people to Dallas for nearly 25 years, SMU's Willis M. Tate Distinguished Lecture Series is one of the country's leading forums for intellectual inquiry and discussion. From presidents to prime ministers, from prize-winning authors and actors to eminent scientists and business leaders; the series offers once-in-a lifetime exposure to the world's greatest minds.
