Throughout the school year, some of our current students will post reflections on what they are experiencing as they progress through the Cox MBA program. Check back often to see what's new...in their own words!

Last semester I was fortunate enough to secure an internship in the industry I wanted to work in and with the company I wanted to work for. My internship with Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management this summer was a 10-week internship where 30 interns from across the country's top business schools split time between New York and each associate's regional office.

This Module has been my easiest one yet, especially since I have securely locked down my internship with Goldman Sachs. Since we only take 3 classes, (plus a GLP class which demands less than half the work other classes do) I have been less busy and less stressed. I cannot reiterate enough how important I think it is to start your internship search off early.

After 8 months at the Cox School, the scoreline reads 3 down and one more to go for the year. I mean, I am done with 3 event filled modules and I have 1 more to go before I embark on the much anticipated GLP trip. While 1st year students had the opportunity to participate in case competitions, pursue elective courses of their interest for the first time in their MBA career and visit companies in Dallas as part of the preparation for the GLP trip, the highlight without doubt was the search for a summer internship.

As Mod A of the spring semester comes to a close, I realize that this first year of business school is quickly coming to an end. Granted we still have a lot left to do, including another semester and our GLP trip, but the fact that we have completed three out of four Modules is crazy. It seems as if it were yesterday when I sat in the interview chair wondering if this would be where I would be spending the next two years of my life. Fortunately, it is. Read more...

The final module of the fall of 2007 (Mod B) passed really quickly and before we could realize, we were on a break for a month and here I am, back again on campus, trying to keep the Cox blog updated. I had a great time during the break as I visited places in the North-East along with a few of my folks staying in that area. Read more...

The full-time job search has been priority #1 for me this fall. Part of the recruiting experience has been exciting, mostly because I get to enjoy great restaurants, new cities and interesting people. This excitement has also been blended with the stress of deciding which job is the right one for me. With seven months to go until graduation, I am finding some fascinating intricacies about my corporate office visits. Read more...

A 10-week summer associate program goes by fast when you are moving at a JPMorgan pace in New York City! For me, those weeks were somewhat of a blur, but I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to live and work in mid-town Manhattan. Read more...

When you write an end of the academic year blog, you get a mixture of thoughts. It is pretty gratifying to be done. However, when administrators say the year goes by quickly, it is very true. I can't believe I have been here for nine months. My first year at Cox was an amazing experience, and I would recommend it to anyone. Read more...

It has been a sad month in the life of my MBA experience. After eight months of fighting a good fight and refusing to give in to student norms, I have conceded to the world of AIM. That's correct; I am officially a 26-year old male who instant messages. Read more....

I finished taking my last final on March 1, and I was ready to be done after finals week. Business school is a little fickle because most of my classmates are very relaxed and exuberant until finals week when we all go without sleep to cram four tests into three days! Sound like fun? Can't wait to sign up? Welcome to business school....the best time of your life when it isn't finals week! Read more.....

Some people say that getting an MBA is all about having new leadership experiences and learning new ideas. For me, writing an MBA blog is one of these new experiences. Over the course of the next year, I am going to write a short blog over the life and times of an SMU MBA student. Some of the writing will be quirky, and some will hopefully be funny, but most will just try to give you some insights about my experiences in the SMU MBA program. Read more.....
