For Applicants Invited to Interview

Please review ALL of the information below before contacting our office to schedule your admissions interview. We strongly encourage all candidates to travel to campus for their interview so they also have an opportunity to experience a class and meet with current students. However, we will arrange for telephone interviews for candidates located abroad.
 
After you have reviewed this information, please contact Holly Murdoch at hmurdoch@cox.smu.edu or 214-768-3009 to arrange for your interview. Please note that we need at least 2 business days’ notice to make necessary arrangements. To facilitate the scheduling process, please provide our office with as many options as possible in terms of dates and times you prefer. You will receive an e-mail confirmation with your itinerary (and directions to campus, if applicable) when the interview has been confirmed.
 
On-Campus Interviews
For an on-campus interview - which is strongly encouraged for all applicants living in the United States - you should plan to spend a half-day on campus, as your visit will also include a class visit, tour of our facilities and lunch with a current student. To coordinate with these additional on-campus activities, interviews are available at the following times as outlined below:
  • March 10 - April 24, 2008:
    Mondays/Tuesdays: 9:30am, 10:15am, 1:30pm and 2:15pm
  • Wednesdays/Thursdays: 11:45am, 12:30pm, 3:45pm and 4:30pm
If you have already visited campus or do not want to schedule the entire visit package (i.e. you prefer just a class visit along with the interview), we will do our best to schedule an abbreviated campus visit based on the availability of the admissions committee members.
 
Exceptions to Interview Scheduling
On the following dates, full campus visits are unavailable due to conflicts with our student hosts’ schedules. The admissions staff is happy to host you for an interview (and, if possible, a tour of our facilities) but there are no class visits and no student hosts.  Appointment times are scheduled based on availability.
  • Any Friday through April 25, 2008
  • February 25 - March 7, 2008
  • April 26 – July 1, 2008
On the following dates, no interviews (both on-campus and telephone) are available due to conflicts with admissions committee members’ schedules.
  • March 21, 2008
  • April 3 - 4, 2008
  • Any Saturday or Sunday
Telephone Interviews
Interviews are available for applicants living abroad who are unable to travel to campus for an appointment Monday through Friday at the following times: 8:30am, 9:00am, 9:30am and 10:00am Central Standard Time. You should plan for a 20-30 minute interview with a member of the admissions committee. We will initiate the call, so to ensure a good connection please provide a landline number (NOT a cell phone) with all applicable country and city codes when you schedule the interview. Because telephone connections can be unreliable, you will be provided with the direct telephone number of your interviewer and are asked to call them if they have been unable to reach you within 10 minutes of your scheduled start time.

Off-Campus Interviews
We only offer interviews with members of the Cox MBA admissions committee. Occasionally, a member of the admissions committee may travel within the United States and be able to arrange for an interview in your city. This is not recommended unless you have already visited campus. If you would like to see if any opportunities exist near you, please ask when you contact the office to schedule your interview.
