International Applicants
TOEFL Requirements
If your first language is not English, you must demonstrate fluency in speaking and writing English by taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The TOEFL may be waived for international students who hold degrees from English-speaking countries.
Automatic TOEFL Waiver
If you hold a degree (Bachelors or Masters) from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada or Singapore you do not need to submit a TOEFL score.
Requesting a Waiver
If you hold a degree (Bachelors or Masters) from another English-speaking country, you can request a waiver of the TOEFL. Your request must be sent to mbainfo@cox.smu.edu and should contain information which allows us to assess your background with the English language, such as education and work experience. If you have taken the GMAT, please also provide your total score along with your score (raw score and percentile) on the verbal section. A member of the Admissions Committee will reply to your waiver request via e-mail as soon as possible.
