How should I choose my recommenders?
The Admissions Committee prefers letters of recommendation which are professional in nature. At least one letter should come from a current or former supervisor who can discuss in detail your work performance. We understand, however, that it may not be possible for you to obtain a letter from a supervisor, especially if they are unaware of your plans to apply for business school. In that case, please use the supplemental essay to briefly explain the situation.

Other possibilities for recommenders may include professional peers and clients. If you have had a high level of involvement with a community group or professional association, such as serving as chair of a large event/project, a letter from someone affiliated from that organization would be appropriate. We discourage letters of recommendation from professors (current or former) unless you had a high level of interaction with the person, such as by serving as a teaching/research assistant. We also caution against seeking a letter from a high-level executive unless they are personally aware of your work experience.

Do my recommendations need to be submitted on the official form?
The Admissions Committee requires the recommender to complete page 1 of the recommendation form. The additional information required can either be submitted on page 1 of the form OR by submitting a letter on the recommender’s company letterhead.

Can my recommendations be sent via e-mail?
We do not accept recommendations via e-mail, regardless of the sender. We do, however, allow recommenders to complete an online version of the recommendation form. When completing the online application, you have the ability to send your recommenders a link to this form.

You require two recommendations; can I submit more?
There is no advantage to submitting additional letters of recommendation.

How many essays are required?
Three essays are required with a fourth supplemental essay allowed.  The essay question topics can be found in the application instructions.

Are there any word count or page limits for the essays?
All three required essays should be a maximum of 2 pages each, double-spaced.

How do I know if I should submit the supplemental essay?
The supplemental essay is reserved for additional topics which may need clarification. Such topics may include GMAT performance, prior academic performance and gaps in your resume. This essay is not designed to allow you to simply create another essay topic or submit a writing sample and should only be used as necessary.
