James Smith, the Cary M. Maguire Chair in Oil and Gas Management, specializes in both economics and energy. Professor Smith is an expert in Microeconomic theory, managerial economics, and energy economics and policy. His research includes international oil taxes and investment, auction theory, real options, energy finance, and risk management. Edward Ahnert teaches courses on corporate social responsibility drawing on over three decades of experience in international corporate finance and corporate philanthropy. For 14 years Ed headed philanthropy for ExxonMobil. As the president of the ExxonMobil Foundation he was responsible for the development and implementation of numerous award-winning programs in educational reform, environment and wildlife conservation, public health and arts/culture. Areas of expertise include value-chain management, human rights in the workplace, globalization and its impact on health in the third world (including drug pricing), product safety issues, obesity, global warming, pollution effects on the environment.
