Course Description:
Between emails and instant messaging, time constraints and information overload, Corporate America's writing habits have taken a hit. Advertising, annual reports, websites and proposals contain poor spelling, punctuation and grammar errors, or they're just difficult to understand.
In this fun, hands-on, interactive seminar, you will get a refresher course on the basics and learn secrets for writing to be understood. The four-hour course also covers advanced techniques for those who feel good about their writing, but want to make sure they're staying cutting edge.
Note: Smart people do not always write well. In their defense, perhaps they're just in a rush and don't proof-read. So, the exercises and content chosen for this session are based on frequent mistakes seen in business communication.
Objectives
- Write reader-focused letters and emails.
- See the most common mistakes made in business writing and, hopefully, never commit them!
- Learn several ways to proofread.
- Review grammar, spelling and punctuation rules.
- Understand strategies for kicking your writing up a notch.
