LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM


Where Women Lead, Success Follows

Women in Motion, offered by SMU Cox School of Business, is an innovative program designed to develop women business leaders. This dynamic program will enable highly successful women leaders to leverage and expand their unique talents to meet the challenges of a changing global market. In today’s highly competitive business world, companies must act on the direct link of women and profitability.

The program is designed for successful women business leaders, including corporate officers, business owners and entrepreneurs, and nonprofit executives. Participants will learn how to provide real solutions for current business problems and the challenges of the future.

Advisory Board members will advance the Women in Motion program and women’s leadership in the community and region. The Advisory Board was created to:

  • Draw on their experience, education and expertise to support success of the program.
  • Give a time commitment of two years, and advocacy for the benefit of the program and the greater women’s leadership community.
  • Assist in framing the basic direction of the program and monitor implementation of  strategic plans.
  • Act as advocates for the program in the business community, region, and wider public.

Women in Motion: How Trailblazers Lead

Learn about women in motion who have been trailblazers with their careers. The story book covers their background, careers, life changing events, and reveals specific leadership lessons, what advice they would offer to the next generation of women leaders. The intent of the book is to offer inspiring stories about women who have accomplished amazing leadership challenges which could be used to help other women learn about leadership.

Program Overview

Women in Motion provides leadership development in convenient three day sessions scheduled quarterly. This allows participants to enhance their learning opportunities without the inconvenience of prolonged absence from work. Each learning module is supported by executive coaching to integrate classroom learning into the workplace. Modules may be taken individually or as part of the total program.

Learning objectives:

  • Share the latest research and thinking on key business topics with implications for the future.
  • Learn how to set high standards and create an engaged, highly motivated workforce.
  • Become aware of the differences between how women and men approach aspects of work to maximize results.
  • Decipher and understand individual leadership styles, approaches and their impact on results.
  • Understand how to better manage the increasing demands of complexity.

Faculty

The  Women in Motion faculty features the experience of proven world-renowned experts in the areas of leadership, strategy, finance, and innovation.  We draw upon their expertise to provide relevant learning that can be applied in today’s changing business environments.

SMU Cox Executive Education Certificate

You’ll earn a certificate of completion in Women in Motion after you complete all four modules of the program. You can also earn Continuing Education Units, or CEUs.
 

Location

All classes are held at the James M. Collins Executive Education Center on the SMU campus in Dallas, Texas.
