EXECUTIVE EDUCATION

Learn…Act…Benefit
Ben E. Keith Company takes a slightly different approach to executive education by what they call “active learning”. Company management turns to SMU Cox Executive Education to offer relevant business, management and leadership classes, and participants take what they learn in class and immediately apply it to company challenges right in their own organization. Teams are broken into groups or five or six. Each team has a pertinent challenge assignment that they must research and ultimately make recommendations to Ben E. Keith’s senior management. “This approach to learning is very worthwhile, as it exposes our employees to new topics and learning opportunities,” says John Prewitt, vice president of Sales at Ben E. Keith. “As a result of their findings, we save money, get a good return on our investment and reallocate resources to new initiatives. One of our company’s business philosophies is to provide our employees with the opportunity to learn and advance, and this program helps us do that.”
