BBA & MSA Career Services

Mission Statement

    Cox BBA Career Services, in partnership with Hegi Family Career Development Center, educates, prepares and equips students with the skills to identify and achieve life long career goals.

The BBA Career Counselors offer career fairs, workshops and special events focused on providing exposure to careers and developing job search and networking skills.  The three counselors available exclusively to Cox BBAs and MSAs are located in the Maguire Building, (the primary classroom building for undergraduate business courses) where they can be easily accessible to students. 
 

Our primary focus is on the student, helping them explore careers in relation to their own values, interests, personality, and skills.  In addition, we teach them skills so they can better manage the internship and job search process.  Counselors work one-on-one with students for career exploration and job search preparation.

Internships are a key component of the undergraduate experience at Cox.  Our location in Dallas allows our students to pursue part time internships during the year to supplement summer internship experiences nationwide.  Over 90% of the internships we receive are paid. 
 

A remarkable 90% of our May 2008 graduates were employed, in graduate school, or otherwise off the job market within three months of graduation.  For salary information for our graduates, please review the starting salary data for recent SMU Cox BBA and MSA graduates, as well as comparable national information.
