In order to have your event added to the Cox calendar, you must send an email to support@cox.smu.edu to create an event sign up page.

You are not required to force your attendees to submit the form for free events, however, you are required to have the form available.

This form must include a field for attendees to supply their SMU ID # if they have one. While the SMU ID # is not requred to submit the form and register for the event, it is required that the SMU ID # field be present on the form.

If you have an event which is free for anyone to attend:

Send an email to support@cox.smu.edu with "New Event Registration" as the subject.
Be sure to include the date of your event.
Be sure to include start and end time(s) for your event.
Be sure to include the physical address & any other location information attendees might need to locate your event
Be sure to include contact information for people with questions.

If you have used the Cox Event System in the past AND you are not making changes to the org code(s):

Send an email to support@cox.smu.edu with "Existing User with New Paid Event Registration" as the subject.
Be sure to include the date of your event.
Be sure to include start and end time(s) for your event.
Be sure to include the physical address & any other location information attendees might need to locate your event

If you want your new event payments to be credited to a different org code:

Set up a meeting with the Financial Officer to discuss the accounting issues.
Send an email to support@cox.smu.edu with "Exsiting User with New Org Code for Paid Event Registration" as the subject.
Be sure to include the date of your event.
Be sure to include start and end time(s) for your event.
Be sure to include the physical address & any other location information attendees might need to locate your event
Be sure to include contact information for people with questions.

If you have an event people must pay to attend AND if you have NEVER used the event system before:

Set up a meeting with the Financial Officer to discuss the accounting issues.
Send an email to support@cox.smu.edu with "New Paid Event Registration" as the subject.
Be sure to include the date of your event.
Be sure to include start and end time(s) for your event.
Be sure to include the physical address & any other location information attendees might need to locate your event
Be sure to include contact information for people with questions.

Changing CoxAlumni Password 1.0

Please note: You must be logged in before you can attempt to change your password.

Log in.
Select "On Line Directory" on the left navigation
Once that menu expands, "My password" is the bottom option.
You will need to type your password in twice and click "Submit" to save the new password.

Trouble Logging in to CoxAlums 1.0

If you are having trouble logging in to www.coxalums.com, please try the following steps:

Be sure that you are not trying to create an account.
Try logging in with your student ID #.
Try using the "Forgot Password" link at the bottom of the log in box.

Clear Firefox Cache and Cookies 1.0

From the Tools menu, select Clear Recent History... . Alternatively, in Firefox 4 and above, you can also click the orange Firefox button, and then select Clear Recent History from the History menu.
From the Time range to clear: drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear your entire cache, select Everything.
Click the down arrow next to "Details" to choose what history elements to clear (e.g., check Cookies to clear cookies). Click Clear Now.

In the browser bar, enter: chrome://settings/clearBrowserData

Select the items you want to clear (e.g., Clear browsing history, Clear download history, Empty the cache, Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data).
From the Obliterate the following items from: drop-down menu, you can choose the period of time for which you want to clear cached information. To clear your entire cache, select the beginning of time.
Click Clear browsing data.

A few simple steps to clear the cache and cookies on Safari.

Select the "Gear" icon in the top right corner of Safari
From the menu, select "Reset Safari". This will open the menu pane below.
Be sure to click "Clear history", "Remove all webpage preview images", and "Empty Cache" and "Close all Safari windows"
If you continue to have problems, repeat the process and select "Clear Downloads window" and "Remove all cookies" as well as the options above.
Restart Safari and see if you continue to experience issues. If so, please email support@cox.smu.edu

A few simple steps to clear your cache and cookies in current version of Internet Explorer (versions 8 and 9)

Select the Gear Icon at the top right corner of IE.
Select "Internet Options" from the drop down menu.
This will open a new menu pane.
The second panel on the menu pane is titled "Browsing History". Select the "Delete..." button.
Clicking the "Delete..." button will open a new menu pane. Be sure to ccheck "Preserve Favorites Website data" so that any sites you have bookmarked will kept. Also be sure to check "Temporary Internet files" and if you continue to have problems, repeat the process and select the optional "Cookies"
Click the "Delete" button at the bottom. Close ALL of your IE windows and tabs. Reopen the browser and see if you are still having problems. If so, please send an email to support@cox.smu.edu describing the issue you are having.

Logging in from my Mac does not work 1.0

It is often a simple matter. Be sure that you have the proper /. When using an Apple or Mac computer from the Apple ro Mac OS, it works very much like Unix and you will need to suplly the proper / in order to get it to work.

So make sure that you are usig COX/123456 or SMU/123456 and not COX\123456 or SMU\123456

The application is all form driven. It's designed to be very simple to fill in. This information is used all over the Cox web site. The main use, but not the only use, is to create the various faculty directories for both the site as a whole and the vrious departments. It is also the same informatio that shows u on your individual faculty profile page.

On the main profile page, you can edit:

Your highest degree aka the degree listed with your name in the directory
Your Office Location - Building and Room
Your Office Hours
Your Office Phone
Your Email Address
The URL where your on-line CV is posted
Your Bio

Grants Honors and Awards 1.0

Grants Honors and Awards is located under the "Teaching Information" section in the left hand menu. Information here will show up on the "Teaching" Tab of your profile under "Selected Grants Honors and Awards". The default display order is by year in decending order with the most recent award being shown at the top of the list. You have the ability to over ride this by manually setting the display order to reorder tthe display. What ever item is set to display at 1 will be displayed first, 2 second and so on.

Academic Experience is located under the "Teaching Information" menu on the left hand side of the page. It is a text field with a field left for ordering the display of the information. The default is alphabetical.

Try using the "Remove Formatting" button in the editor to remove the formatting from the part of your page that looks odd. Using your cursor highligt the odd looking bits, hit the button and save. See if that doesn't resolve your problem. This is particularly helpful if you are pasting content in from something else, espeically Word.
