This course examines business practices and applications that are unique to the venture-funded, early-stage company. Building a fast growth venture backed company is different from building a company using your own funds of those of friends or relatives. You must be effective working with the "smart money." The student will learn management techniques, organizational processes and collaboration models that will contribute to success as an entrepreneurial executive in a venture backed enterprise. Topics also covered are: What the venture investor looks for; Evolution of your role as the CEO; and Board responsibilities, leadership and behavior. At the conclusion the student will recognize the key challenges and typical mistakes that lead to failure in the early-stage, venture backed company and how to prevent them. Prerequisites: None.
