This course provides students with hands-on venture capital experience, applying the skills developed in Finance, Strategy and Entrepreneurship courses. Students partner with local venture capital firms and meet weekly outside of class to identify, qualify, analyze and present recommendations regarding prospective investments for the Cox M.B.A. Venture Fund. Topics covered include filtering and qualifying opportunities presented by entrepreneurs in business plans; evaluating funding presentations; basic due diligence; and portfolio company management. Acceptance to the course is competitive and based on submitted applications. It is preferred that applicants have taken STRA 6219 Private Equity and Venture Capital. An application does not guarantee admission.
