Clint Brown (BBA '00)
Delivering Consulting Services to the Mass-Tort Litigation Field
As a consultant in the mass-tort litigation field, Clint Brown (BBA '00) is expected to deliver sound advice on a daily basis to a client base consisting almost exclusively of attorneys. To do that successfully, he draws upon the business skills he acquired in the Cox BBA Program as well as the unique experiences and enrichment activities the program offered.
At the Cox School, Brown participated in the Cox Business Associates Program (BAP), one of the few programs in the country that matches undergraduate students with corporate executives.
"My participation in the BAP increased my awareness of the importance of business communications and professionalism, which eased my transition from college to my current position as a consultant with Peterson Consulting," Brown commented. "In addition to meeting with my mentor throughout the year to get advice on a range of issues, I visited a consulting firm to experience firsthand the types of engagements I could expect to work on in the consulting field after graduation."
Brown also participated in the Cox BBA Honors Program, offering an enhanced curriculum and a number of team-building and leadership-development activities.
"My decision to apply to the BBA Honors Program was undoubtedly the best decision I made during my undergraduate academic career," he said. "The program's structure, which utilizes an accelerated academic agenda and relatively small class sizes, allowed for the unique development of each student. The classes offered hands-on projects and interaction with actual Dallas-area companies. Over the course of the program, my classmates became colleagues, and the relationships we formed as team players during those experiences taught us a lot about our own strengths and weaknesses. Some of the closest friendships I have today were developed through the BBA Honors Program."
Brown also benefited from the quality, commitment, and accessibility of the Cox faculty members, who ground business theory in relevant case studies by combining their teaching and research expertise with corporate and consulting experience.
"The Cox professors I studied under were unsurpassed in their business knowledge and professionalism," he noted. "Just as important, whenever I met with them at lunch, over coffee, or after school, I always felt that my ultimate success was their primary focus."
Brown offered a few words of advice to prospective students: "Students would be hard-pressed to find an educational institution that delivers greater value than the Cox School. The school is advantageously located in Texas' business and commerce capital – Dallas. It offers strong academic programs, an outstanding faculty, and unique opportunities for hands-on enrichment activities within the city. I truly believe that my Cox education will help me reach my utmost potential."
