SMU Cox Welcomes Texas Motion Picture Alliance Event to increase industry business opportunities in Texas
Dallas (SMU) – SMU Cox School of Business is pleased to welcome the Texas Motion Picture Alliance (TXMPA) to campus for a membership and fundraising event January 27, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. TXMPA’s objective is to increase the amount of film, video, interactive, and video game business in Texas by working in collaboration with commercial entities as well as state and city organizations.
“If the media and entertainment industry were a sports league, the team we have in the State of Texas is clearly a winner. We just need to be able to play by the same rules as the other teams in the league. Texas-based media and entertainment production and post-production companies are at an immediate competitive disadvantage because more than 30 other states offer incentives that Texas does not. The TXMPA represents a pragmatic, predictable way to level the playing field,” says David Friedman, Partner, Dallas Audio Post Group.
The Agenda for this event includes TXMPA organization, mobilization, and legislative updates as well as perspectives from across the state that are intended to help increase business and profitability. Highlights include industry luminaries Blake Calhoun, Producer, KILLING DOWN and Garry Brown, Producer, PRISON BREAK.
Commentary will be provided by the following individuals. Media interviews will be permitted from 11:30 – 12:30 p.m.
