The Human Capital Institute and SMU Cox Offer “Implementing Innovative Talent Management Strategies” Networking Event for the Dallas-Fort Worth Business Community

Washington, D.C. and Dallas, Texas – The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global professional association and educator in talent management strategies, and Southern Methodist University's Cox School of Business Executive Education announced today that Dr. Miguel Quinones, award-winning professor, author, and organizational consultant, will speak at a networking breakfast for the Dallas-Forth Worth business and professional community.

The event, sponsored by Padgett Performance Group, will take place Thursday, March 1, from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM CT, on the SMU campus in the James M. Collins Executive Education Center Auditorium, 3150 Binkley Avenue.

Dr. Quinones’ presentation, “Implementing Innovative Talent Management Strategies: Barriers and Solutions,” will identify typical barriers that impede dissemination of HR policies and practices and provide solutions to overcome these barriers.

“It is now common wisdom that the key role of HR is as a strategic partner that helps drive business outcomes. However, turning HR strategies into implemented policies and practices across an organization is often a stumbling block for many HR professionals,” said Allan Schweyer, HCI’s president and executive director. “In this important presentation, Mickey Quinones will examine the empirical evidence linking HR strategies and practices with organizational outcomes.”

Miguel “Mickey” Quinones is the Marilyn and Leo Corrigan Endowed Professor of Management and Organizations at SMU’s Cox School of Business and the recipient of several prestigious academic awards, fellowships, and grants, including a U.S. Fulbright Scholar grant.

Quinones also serves as a private consultant with expertise in human resource management, developing organizational capabilities, and organizational change. His clients have included PeopleAnswers, Chevron, Anthem, Minute Maid, and NASA.

Quinones is coauthor of the book, “Training for a Rapidly Changing Workplace: Applications of Psychological Research,” and contributor to a number of distinguished books on psychological perspectives training and the workplace. He has also contributed articles to various scholarly publications, including the Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Business Research, and Human Resource Development Quarterly.

Quinones holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Michigan State University, as well as a B.S. in Psychology from Texas A&M University.

There is no charge for the SMU event, and it is open to the public. Professionals interested in attending the event should call 866-538-1909 or visit HCI's web site to register.
