SMU Cox Recognizes Dallas/Fort Worth Entrepreneurs at the 16th Annual Dallas 100TM Awards
Dallas (SMU) - In its 16th year, the Dallas 100TM Awards, presented by the SMU Cox Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship, recognized the top 100 fastest growing, privately held companies in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The success of these companies indicates the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in North Texas, as these 100 companies combined to generate sales of $3 billion in 2005, and grew average sales 208 percent from 2003 to 2005.
The top 100 companies were recognized at an awards ceremony at the Meyerson Symphony Center November 15, with keynote speaker Eddie Gossage, president and general manager of Texas Motor Speedway. Huntley Paton, publisher of The Dallas Business Journal, and Mike Rogers, with KRLD Newsradio, served as emcees for the event. Taking the top spot in this year’s Dallas 100TM Awards is the Addison-based marketing firm, RAZOR. Ranked 9th in Entrepreneur magazine’s “Hot 100” list of top growth companies in the United Sates in 2006, RAZOR creates and implements marketing strategies that build retail brands by driving transactions and improving marketing ROI. Clients include retail industry leaders Domino's Pizza, Rent-A-Center, Wendy's, Baskin-Robbins, GameStop and BLIMPIE as well as Habitat for Humanity. In the past 18 months, RAZOR has more than doubled its employees, revenue and U.S. billings. Co-presidents Tom Cole and Dave Kirwan have led companies that have been nominated five times for the Dallas 100TM Awards.
In order to qualify for the Dallas 100™, a company must be an independent, privately held corporation, proprietorship or partnership (not a subsidiary of a parent company) as of May 1, 2006; be headquartered in the Dallas area; have had sales of more than $500,000 in fiscal 2003; have had sales of not more than $65,000,000 in 2003; have a three-year sales history reflecting growth; and, have a credit report and character satisfactory to the Dallas 100™, determined at the sole discretion of the Dallas 100™.
