Texas Motor Speedway President and General Manager Speaks at the SMU Cox Ernst & Young Management Briefing Series

Dallas, Texas (SMU) — The SMU Cox Ernst & Young Management Briefing Series welcomes Eddie Gossage, president and general manager of Texas Motor Speedway, Thursday, March 23 at the Fairmont Hotel. Following an 11:30 a.m. reception, the luncheon and presentation begin at noon. Register online.

Gossage joined Texas Motor Speedway in 1995 as executive vice president and general manager. As president and general manager of one of the major racing venues in the United States with over 20 years of racing experience, Gossage is considered one of the most influential executives in professional sports.
Gossage began his career in 1980 as the public relations director of the Nashville International Raceway, later becoming the manager of the Bristol International Raceway in Bristol, TN. Following that, Gossage joined the Miller Brewing Company managing their motorsports public relations campaign. Gossage later served as vice president of public relations for the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC. During this time, Charlotte Motor Speedway held the first nighttime superspeedway race, increased seating by 20 percent, and became a public company on the New York Stock Exchange. Among his accomplishments since joining the Texas Motor Speedway in 1995, Gossage has led the first nighttime Indy Car Series race, hosted the largest sports crowd in Texas history, and organized “Fandango,” a free party for season-ticket holders featuring the leading motorsports drivers. In 2001, the Indy Racing League named Gossage “Promoter of the Year.”

Gossage serves on the board of directors for the Speedway Children’s Charity, Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, and the Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau. He also served as one of 50 directors for the Dallas 2012 Olympic Exploratory Committee. Gossage, a native of Tennessee, graduated from Middle Tennessee State University’s School of Journalism.
