Technology Day Teaches Minority Students the Importance of Professional Skills
Dallas (SMU) - SMU Cox School of Business and HACEMOS (Hispanic American Communications Employees of SBC/ATT) have joined forces to host local high school students in a Technology Day.The Technology Day scheduled for April 6, 2006 will include breakout sessions on interview dos and don'ts, resume writing and website development and a catered lunch.
The program is intended to empower and inspire Hispanic and minority students to pursue careers in engineering and technology.HACEMOS is a non-profit, non-partisan organization open to active and retired employees of the SBC Communications, Inc. family of companies. The organization's main purpose is to foster an environment where people support and encourage each other to succeed professionally, personally, and in the community.
Initiatives to raise minority involvement and enrollment in programs have been successful and are highly regarded in the Cox community."SMU Cox recognizes that a diverse student population further enhances the educational experience," said Steve Denson, Director of Diversity.
