Management by Baseball Author Jeff Angus Speaks with Talmage Boston at the SMU Cox Bank of Texas Business Leaders Spotlight Series

Dallas, TX (SMU) - The SMU Cox School of Business and Bank of Texas Business Leaders Spotlight Series welcome Jeff Angus, the author of Management by Baseball: The Official Rule for Winning Management, and Talmage Boston, author of 1939: Baseball’s Tipping Point, on Wednesday, October 4, at SMU in the Crum Auditorium of the James M. Collins Executive Education Center. Following a 5:00 p.m. reception, the presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m.

In Management by Baseball, Angus makes the case that organizations hoping to be relevant and profitable in the years ahead must adopt a new, very different leadership model, one advocated by the likes of Peter Drucker and Tom Peters. This new model is in accordance with management principles derived from 130 years of the best practices in baseball.

Angus serves as a contributing editor at InfoWorld, writes the management column for CIO Insight and has an active consulting practice focused on coaching failing managers, developing knowledge management delivery, and executing change initiatives.

Talmage Boston, media member of the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame, will be interviewing Mr. Angus about the correlation between baseball and managing companies. Boston is also the immediate past chairman of the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame Foundation, a trial lawyer with Winstead, Sechrest & Minik, P.C., a Texas Monthly “Super Lawyer” and a columnist for the Dallas Business Journal and Park Cities People newspapers.

The Bank of Texas Business Leaders Spotlight Series welcomes today's best and brightest business leaders to campus to share their insight, and offers participants a unique opportunity before and after presentations to exchange ideas with outstanding business leaders, alumni, faculty, students, and friends of the University. The presentations are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Ann Faison at 214-768-3030.
