Entrepreneur Magazine Ranks SMU Cox #5 in the Nation/Region
DALLAS (SMU) –SMU Cox School of Business is pleased to announce that Entrepreneur magazine has named its Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship as the nation’s fifth best entrepreneurial program, as ranked by program directors, faculty, and alumni.
The DFW Metroplex has spawned a thriving entrepreneurial community, which is an essential part of the major international center of commerce and technology the area has become. The Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship has been an inspiration and resource for many potential business owners. Over the past 34 years, the Starting a Business Certificate Course has taught more than 10,000 area business men and women, the benefits, thrills and uncertainties of owning their own business.
"From the time when entrepreneurial education was first introduced, it has since proven to be one of the hottest growing areas of study," said Jerry White, director of the Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship. "Fortunately for SMU Cox, Dallas provides a strong culture and infrastructure that encourages and fosters entrepreneurship."
The Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship was established at SMU in 1970 by W.W. Caruth, Jr. to encourage a spirit of entrepreneurship and to improve our students’ probability of success. The Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship offers education and training for today's entrepreneur who competes in a rapidly changing, fast paced, technology driven environment.
The entrepreneurship program offers 18 graduate level courses and two undergraduate level courses in entrepreneurship. The Institute’s programs, such as the Dallas 100™ Entrepreneur Awards and the Southwest Venture Forum, highlight the innovation and vast business acumen of area entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneur’s 3rd annual evaluation of the best entrepreneurship programs at U.S. colleges and universities is the most credible and comprehensive analysis of its kind. The rankings were performed by TechKnowledge Point Corp. in Santa Barbara, California.
