DFW Interactive Marketing Association Names SMU’s Cox School of Business Web Site First Runner Up in Public Relations Media Awards

DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU Cox School of Business is pleased to announce its recognition in DFW Interactive Marketing Association’s (DFWIMA) third annual media awards. SMU Cox received First Runner Up in “Best Use of the Internet for Public Relations” for the faculty research section of the SMU Cox Web Site (http://research.cox.smu.edu). With summaries of cutting-edge research by SMU Cox professors and easily downloadable papers, the site has increased the availability of academic expertise to the media, and in turn has generated an increase in media exposure. Since its launch in April 2004, the faculty research site has seen increased usage by 175 percent; visitors spend approximately one hour and 13 minutes navigating the research pages.

This category is one of 14 in DFWIMA’s 2005 Excellence in Interactive Marketing Awards (EIMA) and represents the only university and only non-agency in any of the categories. Other winners include t:m Interactive for American Airlines and imc² for Proctor & Gamble.

DFWIMA established the Excellence in Interactive Marketing Awards (EIMA) to honor companies and individuals throughout the DFW metroplex who exemplify outstanding leadership in execution and innovation of interactive marketing in 2004. Through recognizing such qualities among local business communities, the EIMA awards strive to share industry best practices, improving and expanding the knowledge base of all marketing practitioners throughout the DFW metroplex.

This year’s judges were representatives from major Internet-based companies such as Dow Jones Online, CareerBuilders.com, Ameritrade, iMedia and Washington Post/ Newsweek Interactive. Judges evaluated candidate performance based on creativity, execution, clarity of message, ease of navigation, technology, performance in meeting objectives and overall experience.
