Cox MBAs Make All Star List -
Dallas Business Journal  Names Business School All Stars

DALLAS, Texas (SMU) - Three SMU Cox MBA students were chosen as "Business School All Stars" by the Dallas Business Journal. Jason Kelley (MBA '03), Shawn Denise Miller (MBA '03), and Joseph Randall Rountree (PMBA '03) were selected from among their peers to represent the Cox School of Business. Criteria for the selection included high academic achievement as well as leadership skills and community involvement.

Before joining SMU Cox, Kelley was a small business co-owner focusing in marketing services. He chose a Cox MBA to strengthen his skills set and build his business knowledge. "The MBA program offered an opportunity to round out my understanding of business fundamentals and financial management as they apply to growing a business," he said.

Miller joined the MBA program for similar reasons. After graduating in chemical engineering, Miller joined Praxair, a Fortune 500 chemical company. "After progressing from an operations engineer to an account manager for the semiconductor division, I wanted to move into management and recognized that an MBA would complement the skills I already developed and complete those I was missing."

Rountree joined the Professional MBA program allowing him to remain in the workforce while earning an MBA. "I had a strong position in software development, but as my career progressed I began to realize the benefits of a graduate business education, not only in work opportunities but also in assessing my personal portfolio."

SMU's Cox School of Business offers a full range of business education programs, from BBA and full-time MBA to Professional MBA (PMBA), Executive MBA (EMBA), and Executive Education. Cox is ranked among the top business schools nationally and internationally by major publications including Business Week, The Economist, Financial Times, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and U.S. News & World Report. In addition, the school's Business Leadership Center (BLC), Caruth Institute of Owner-Managed Business, American Airlines Global Leadership Program (GLP), and Associate Board executive mentoring program are recognized nationally and internationally.
