U.S. News & World Report Ranks SMU Cox Executive and Professional MBA Programs Number 14 in the Nation
DALLAS, Texas (SMU) – SMU Cox School of Business is delighted to announce that U.S. News & World Report has again placed SMU Cox among the top schools in the nation for MBA programs for working professionals. The Executive MBA (EMBA) program moved up one position, from 15 last year to 14 this year. The Professional MBA (PMBA) program moved up to 14 from 22 last year. The only program for working professionals in north Texas placing in the Top 15, the Cox EMBA and PMBA programs are ranked among such schools as Emory, Northwestern University, University of Chicago, and New York University.
"These rankings reflect the quality of our programs for working professionals and the strong support SMU Cox receives from the Dallas business community and working professionals seeking graduate business education," said Albert W. Niemi, Jr., dean of the Cox School of Business. "And we will only continue to enrich the educational experience for business professionals and executives with the addition of the Collins Center."
SMU Cox broke ground on the new James M. Collins Executive Education Center in December, a state-of-the-art teaching and conference facility. The facility will be a hub for business education and will house the school's Executive MBA program as well as the Division of Executive and Management Development. Completion is scheduled for March 2005.
The Cox School also recognizes the contributions of its faculty and staff in enhancing national reputation. In October 2003, Dr. Marci Armstrong received the Bud Fackler Award by the Executive MBA Council. The award is given annually to the person or persons who have contributed both to the Executive MBA Council and to Executive MBA programs around the world through their efforts to help other programs, share best practices and in general, and raise the level of Executive MBA programs everywhere.
The EMBA and PMBA programs meet the diversified needs of working professionals, allowing them to earn an MBA degree while still working full time. The EMBA program includes a rigorous, broad-based curriculum that is designed for mid-and senior-level managers. Successful EMBA students should have 10 years of professional experience and a record of career achievements. The PMBA program offers a flexible class schedule and two campus locations for fully employed professionals with at least two years of work experience.
SMU’s Cox School of Business offers a full range of business education programs, from BBA and full-time MBA to Professional MBA (PMBA), Executive MBA (EMBA), Masters of Science in Accounting, and Executive Education. With educational experiences like the SMU Cox Business Leadership Center (BLC), Caruth Institute of Entrepreneurship, American Airlines Global Leadership Program (GLP), and the Associate Board Executive Mentoring Program combined with an international alumni outreach of more than 29,000, it is no wonder SMU Cox is ranked among the top business schools nationally and internationally by major publications including BusinessWeek, Economist, Financial Times, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and U.S. News & World Report. At SMU’s Cox School of Business, what happens in the classroom is just the beginning.
