SMU Cox Business Leadership Center Honors Top Business PartnersCenter Will Recognize Business Professionals for Their Excellence in the MBA Classroom
DALLAS, Texas (SMU) - The Business Leadership Center (BLC) at SMU's Cox School of Business honors 15 business professionals with its Distinguished Teaching Excellence Award, Friday, April 11, 2003, at 12:00 p.m. The instructors, each a leading industry professional rather than academic professor, teach a variety of leadership programs to the school's MBA students, bringing "real world" knowledge and experience to the classroom.
The BLC exemplifies the Cox School's partnership with the Dallas business community and its focus on developing business leaders. Founded more than 10 years ago, the BLC developed as a partnership with several major Dallas corporations. Today, those relationships have grown. The BLC offers more than 40 non-credit elective seminars yearly in five primary skill areas - creative and productive leadership, managerial leadership, team dynamics, leadership in a service culture, and communication and interpersonal skills. Programs are developed and customized jointly by the BLC's director and corporate leadership professionals, according to their specialties, from companies throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Courses are taught to equip MBA students with the skills to lead and excel in business to enhance their academic curriculum. The BLC at Cox is unique among MBA schools. Students learn important and fundamental skills through the BLC that are invaluable to their future careers.
