| WHO: |
Georges Le Mener, president and CEO of the Accor North America, will speak at the Bank of Texas Business Leaders Spotlight Series at SMU's Cox School of Business. Mener is responsible for two operating units: the Business and Leisure Division, which manages Sofitel and Novotel in North America, and Ibis hotels in Mexico; and the Economy Lodging Division, comprised of Red Roof Inns, Motel 6, and Studio 6.
Mener joined Motel 6 in 1992 and steered the company on a strategic course emphasizing quality. His efforts led to an extensive renovation program and refocused the company on profitability, growth, and the guest experience. Under his leadership, the company began franchising, introduced a new extended stay budget brand, Studio 6, and acquired Red Roof Inns in 1999. Prior to joining Motel 6, Mener was director of the Office of the Chairman for Accor. Earlier in his career, he served as president of Accor North America and Pacific, directing these organizations from the company's New York headquarters.
