Dallas 100™ Reveals The Vitality of Entrepreneurship in North Texas 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies Announced SMU's Cox School Of Business Presents The 12th Annual Dallas 100™ Awards
DALLAS (SMU) - Recent economic figures may report a downturn, but the Dallas 100™ figures report a thriving entrepreneurial industry in North Texas. Of the record number of companies that applied this year, 100 of the area's fastest growing private companies were announced last night at the 12th Annual Dallas 100™ Awards presented by SMU's Cox School of Business Caruth Institute.
The Dallas 100™ winning companies demonstrate an impressive history of growth, with an average growth rate of 225 percent. From 1999 to 2001, cumulative revenues totaled more than $6 billion while the number of employees increased by 57 percent. Twenty-one of the Dallas 100™ also made this year's Inc. 500 list, including Adea Group, esoftsolutions, Y2Marketing, Pharmafab, and Texas Residential Mortgage.
The number one spot for 2002 Dallas 100™ goes to Boardwalk AutoGroup. Boardwalk AutoGroup began with a simple handshake in 1998, a gentlemen's agreement between Scott Ginsburg and Bobby Rodriguez. The two men embarked upon their entrepreneurial journey in 1999 and together have produced three of the top performing dealerships in the United States - Boardwalk Porsche, Boardwalk Audi, and Boardwalk Volkswagen.
The Dallas 100™ Awards are presented by SMU's Cox School of Business Caruth Institute and the CEO Institute. The awards recognize the fastest-growing private companies in the North Texas area. Businesses must have had sales of at least $500,000 and not more than $65 million in fiscal year 1999, and have a three-year sales history with an increase in fiscal 2001. Both percentage growth and dollar growth are considered in the contest.
The Awards presentation, held at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, featured guest speaker Craig Hall, chairman of Hall Financial Group. Past recipients have included such businesses as, R.K. Investments, Inc., Cadence McShane Corporation, OnRamp Technologies, CapRock Communications Corp., Monitronics International, Inc., Universal Sports America, Inc., Pavestone Company L.P., Texas Land & Cattle Steak House, and last year's winner, WorkPlaceUSA.
