SMU Cox Hosts Global Symposium MBAs Return From Abroad to Discuss International Business and Economy
DALLAS, Texas (SMU) - As Cox MBAs return from two weeks abroad, they are preparing to present their findings on the international business environment and economy to American Airlines executives and the Dallas business community. The American Airlines Global Leadership Program Symposium, held Thursday, May 23, 2002, serves as a forum for Cox MBAs to discuss the state of global business with the local business community. The centerpiece of this symposium will be a series of research reports prepared by Cox MBA students.
With the support of American Airlines, three groups of first-year Cox MBA students flew to either Asia, Europe, or Latin America to meet with executives from more than 40 global corporations in Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei, Tokyo, London, Munich, Stockholm, Buenos Aires, Monterrey, Rio de Janeiro, and Sao Paulo. In each group, individuals were assigned different roles and responsibilities, from chief executive officer and external relations to accounting and corporate researcher. The leadership structure was maintained throughout the global visits, and will be utilized by some during the Symposium presentations.
After the morning discussions, David Cush, vice president of international planning and alliances for American Airlines, will serve as the keynote luncheon speaker. This half-day symposium is for Cox students, faculty, and interested members of the business community.
