Gregg Engles will be the featured speaker at the Cox School's Bank of Texas Business Leaders Spotlight Series. Mr. Engles currently serves as chief executive officer of Dean Foods Company, the nation's leading processor and distributor of fresh milk and other dairy products, and a leader in the specialty foods industry. Before assuming this role at Dean Foods Company, he served as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Suiza Foods.
In December 2001, Suiza Foods merged with the Chicago-based company formerly known as Dean Foods. With the merger, Dean Foods, under the leadership of Mr. Engles, estimates annual revenues of approximately $10 billion. The company, now with operations in 39 states, has a total of 129 plants and services more than 150,000 customers coast-to-coast. Mr. Engles founded Suiza Foods, beginning with the 1988 acquisition of the Reddy Ice division of The Southland Corporation. The company entered the dairy industry with the purchase of Suiza Dairy in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1993.
