COX SCHOOL’S EXECUTIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM RANKS 16TH IN NATION BY FINANCIAL TIMES

For the second time in the last four months, SMU’s Cox School of Business has received international recognition. On Monday, May 17, the Financial Times (London), one of the world’s leading business newspapers, ranked the Cox School’s Executive Education Program 16th in the nation and 26th in the world. This announcement follows the Cox School’s recent selection by the Financial Times as one of the top 30 MBA programs in the world.

"The Financial Times ranking confirms our growing global stature as a significant provider of business education. Executive education programs are a core part of our business at the Cox School. To be ranked by the Financial Times for both our MBA and Executive Education programs among the top 30 business schools in the world is a real honor." said Albert W. Niemi, Jr. dean of the Cox School.

Bob Gardner, director of the Division of Executive Education and Management Development says, "We’ve been working for quite some time to build an international reputation for our efforts and were pleased to see that Financial Times ranked us so highly on a worldwide basis. In recent years we built continued presence among international oil companies in particular, taking our faculty abroad and bringing international managers to campus from 40 different countries a year. At the same time, we realize we have a thriving local economy and have developed numerous courses to address their needs. Currently we are developing executive programs addressing the needs of many high-tech and telecom companies. We expect our reputation will continue to grow as we broaden our portfolio in the coming years."

Cox’s Executive Education division offered 29 courses to 5,530 participants over the past year. It has been offering programs in Dallas and around the world for the past 20 years.

Cox was the only school in Texas and one of four schools in the South that ranked among the top 30 Executive Education programs worldwide. The Financial Times ranking was compiled from data collected from two surveys. The first survey was from business schools with revenues of $5 million or more for last year and the second was from a telephone survey of their customers.
