EDS Chairman & CEO Dick Brown to Address Sprint/Ernst & Young Management Briefing Series
WHO: Dick Brown, chairman & CEO of EDS, has built a reputation as a strong leader throughout his nearly three decades of devotion to the telecommunications industry. Brown was appointed chairman and CEO of EDS in January 1999. Before his appointment at EDS, he served as chief executive of Cable & Wireless (C&W) in London. At C&W, Brown engineered a series of alliances, acquisitions and divestitures that brought the company into cable television and made it a major player in Internet technology. Under Brown’s leadership, C&W’s revenues and pretax profits increased dramatically, transforming the company into one of the world’s leading providers of global-integrated communications and a major global carrier of communications traffic – Internet, data, voice and video – with annual sales in excess of $12 billion. Brown has been in the telecommunications industry for more than 28 years, holding a number of executive-level positions, including president and chief executive officer of Illinois Bell and executive vice president of Sprint Corporation.
