"The Telecommunications Battlefield," a new offering from the Division of Executive and Management Development at SMU's Cox School, reflects the school's commitment to meeting the burgeoning needs of the Metroplex's dynamic telecommunications industry. This innovative marketing and business strategies program, scheduled for November 17-18, 1999, examines critical factors essential for success in the competitive telecom marketplace.
"This course will provide participants with a greater understanding of the challenges facing telecom companies as well as the market drivers that influence investment decisions and technology choices," said Bradley Phillips, Associate Director of the Executive and Management Development at Cox. "The industry is changing quickly and often, and managers need this type of information and tools to help them keep up."
The course is designed for executives and managers of local and long distance companies, wireless and cable providers, internet communications operators, equipment manufacturers, and regulatory agencies.
Other telecom programs offered by Cox's Executive and Management Development Division include "The SMU Fundamentals of Telecom Certificate Program, " offered on Thursday evenings September 16 - November 4, 1999 and "Advanced Management Program for Telecommunications Executives: Value Creation in a Competitive Environment" a one-week course offered September 26-October 1, 1999.
"The SMU Fundamentals of Telecom Certificate Program" is a broad course for professionals at any level in telecom companies or in organizations that work closely with telecom companies who want an understanding of the basic technologies, principles, and jargon of telecommunications.
For senior managers and executives in the telecom industry, the "Advanced Management Program for Telecommunications Executives" seminar provides information and methods needed to survive and thrive in this volatile market.
The Financial Times (London), one of the world's leading business newspapers, ranked the Division of Executive and Management Development at SMU's Cox School of Business 16th in the nation and 26th in the world. In addition, Business Week magazine recognized the quality of Cox's executive education programs, citing SMU as a "top provider."
SMU's Executive and Management Development programs are taught by a combination of Cox faculty and industry professionals and include classroom sessions, small group discussions and simulation projects.
